UFC 277: Derrick Lewis gave Dana White a fright on stage during faceoff

UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis pulled an amusing prank on UFC president Dana White during his face-off with Sergei Pavlovich yesterday.

There are very few fighters in mixed martial arts who can make fans smile as much as Derrick Lewis. ‘The Black Beast’ has one of the best highlight reels in UFC history, and that goes for his antics outside of the cage as well as his legendary knockouts in the Octagon.

At the age of 37, many feel like he’s entering the final few years of his prime – with some even suggesting he’s already gone past it.

Whatever the case may be, we’re talking about a man who never fails to deliver, and that’s someone we’re all going to be interested in seeing for as long as he competes.

This weekend, we’ll get the chance to see him in action once more as the UFC returns to his home state of Texas for UFC 277. Behind the two title fights in the main event and co-main, Lewis will serve as one of the primary attractions on the card when he locks horns with Sergei Pavlovich.

The impressive Russian will be hoping to make a name for himself off the back of Lewis’ star power, but in order to do so, he has to battle past the power of a man who can put quite literally anyone’s lights out in the blink of an eye.

On Thursday, Lewis and Pavlovich squared off as part of the UFC 277 press conference face-offs – and Dana White almost got more than he bargained for.

White already looking pretty nervous given Derrick’s history of intense face-offs, and he couldn’t hold back when Lewis opened his fists as if to suggest he was about to land a quick one on his opponent.

The fans in attendance, Pavlovich and Dana himself quickly realised what was happening, leading to a pretty fun embrace.
