UFC 277: Amanda Nunes reclaims bantamweight title after beating Julianna Pena in rematch
Amanda Nunes reclaimed the women’s bantamweight title with a dominant display against Julianna Pena in their rematch in Dallas on Sunday morning.
The Brazilian, stopped in the first encounter in December in one of the biggest shocks in the history of the sport, defeated Pena via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-44, 50-43) in the main event of UFC 277 at American Airlines Center.
In doing so Nunes, considered the greatest female MMA fighter of all-time, became double champion once more, adding the belt to her featherweight crown.
Speaking in the octagon immediately after the resounding victory, Nunes said: "The lioness, if they don't get the prey the first time, I set the trap and I know I'd get it the second time.”
In the event’s other title fight, Brandon Moreno finished Kai Kara France with a body kick and then punches towards the end of round three to seal the interim flyweight belt.
The Mexican, the former undisputed champion, was then joined in the octagon by the current incumbent, Deiveson Figueiredo, where the pair agreed to a fourth clash. The series stands at 1-1-1.
