UFC 275: Glover Teixeira reflects on 10 years in the UFC ahead of title defence

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Glover Teixeira is set to defend his title at UFC 275, and the 205-pound fighter recently reflected on his 10 years in the world of the UFC.

This will be the first defence for the Champ following his crowning at UFC 267 after defeating Jan Blachowicz in the main event.

Just over ten years since the UFC fighter first made his way into the octagon, he is set to appear at the age of 42 on top of the 205-pound MMA world.

Here is what Glover Teixeira had to say about his 10 year anniversary in the Ultimate Fighting Championship ahead of UFC 275 on Saturday 11th June 2022.

The UFC Light Heavyweight Champion recently spoke to Ag Fight ahead of his title defence against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275, celebrating the 10th anniversary of his start in the world of the UFC at UFC 146, on May 26th, 2012.

He said: “I was relaxed. I was so thrilled to begin (my UFC career). I knew where I wanted to get. My confidence was way up. I was on a 15-fight unbeaten streak. I won that one and the next day they wanted to give me Mauricio ‘Shogun’ and he didn’t want it.

“I took it on the spot, I wanted to fight. I had this notion that I was finally where I belonged and I was going to prove how far I could go. Within one year, I was called for a title shot.

“I was sure I was going to join (the UFC). But there was always that thing. I kept thinking I had some heavy karma, that even with all my talent and training alongside champions, was I going to get there, show my work and change my life? I thought I wasn’t going to, but I needed to stay positive. I was going to keep fighting.”
