UFC 275: Fighter hospitalised ahead of fight night

UFC 275 is set to take place tonight from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and unfortunately, a fight has had to be cancelled ahead of the fight card taking place.

Despite a main card bout having to be cancelled due to a fighter being hospitalised, there are still some massive fights set to take place over the Early Prelims, Prelims and Main Card.

The likes of Glover Teixeira, Valentina Shevchenko, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Weili Zhang are scheduled to be part of this huge event.

As originally reported by Eurosport, Rogerio Bontorin has had to be pulled from the fight card and his previously anticipated bout against Manel Kape. 

Bontorin suffered from kidney issues from cutting weight and is currently in hospital ahead of the UFC 275 fight card.

Just got told Rogerio Bontorin was transported to the hospital earlier this morning. With Bontorin vs. Kape missing on the PPV card visual during the Road to UFC broadcast it looks like the fight is off #UFC275 tomorrow….

Speaking to MMAFighting, Bontorin’s coach, Gile Ribeiro, revealed that his fighter had issues whilst cutting weight.

He said: “He was in the process of cutting weight and felt a lot of pain in the lumbar area when he was 2kg (4.5 pounds) over, then he left the bathtub and it only got worse. 

“We called Marcus, from the UFC staff, to check on him and we needed an ambulance to go to the hospital. We ran some tests and he had renal insufficiency, so he’ll stay in the hospital until tomorrow.”
