UFC 273: Conor McGregor calls on Dana White to increase bonuses

UFC star Conor McGregor has asked Dana White to increase fighter bonuses from $50,000 to $60,000 ahead of UFC 273 this weekend.

While we all know Conor McGregor for becoming a two-weight world champion in the UFC, the first taste of what he could do came in his debut against Marcus Brimage back in April 2013. With just over a minute gone in the first round, ‘Notorious’ finished the fight via strikes to establish himself as one to watch in the featherweight division.

In the immediate aftermath of his triumph, McGregor called for UFC president Dana White to give him “60g’s baby!” as a performance bonus. The Irishman got his wish and was rewarded with a $60,000 fee on top of his initial pay, with the quote becoming synonymous with his rise to prominence.

However, in the years since, the majority of bonuses have been set at $50,000 with a few exceptions here and there.

With UFC 273 on the horizon, McGregor noted his excitement for the card and also called on White to bump the regular bonus pay up to $60,000.

“Great to see all the young pups up there @ufc today! We do face offs always here. Correct this going forward. Awesome stuff! Is it a “big fights feel” somewhat right now with this card? I think so! Let’s go fighters, bring it home! 60g’z Dana! Up the bonus, let them go for it!”

Ian Garry, tipped by many to become the next big Irish star in mixed martial arts, will be on this card as part of the prelims.
