UEFA postpone several games in Israel as governing body respond to rising conflict with Euro 2024 qualifier shelved

UEFA have taken the decision to postpone Israel's matches amid rising conflict with Palestinians in the region.

European football's governing body have taken the decision to bin EURO 2024 qualifying action between Israel and Switzerland set for midweek, while Israeli's Under-21 Championship clashes with Estonia and Germany, originally set for October 12 and October 17, are also to be postponed. A mini tournament for the Under-17s that involves Israel, Belgium, Gibraltar and Wales has also been shelved.

It comes as the death toll mounts on both sides after weeks of fighting. A UEFA statement said: "In light of the current security situation in Israel, UEFA has decided to postpone all matches scheduled in Israel in the next couple of weeks with new dates to be confirmed in due course.

"UEFA reserves a few more days to assess whether the European Qualifiers 2024 match Kosovo – Israel can take place on the originally planned date of 15/10 or requires postponement.

"UEFA will continue to closely monitor the situation and will remain in contact with all teams involved before making decisions on new dates and on potential changes to other upcoming fixture."
