Uber confident Rangers fanatics point and laugh at Celtic as they tell the Hotline their rivals are utter fools

It might be April Fools’ Day but good natured banter was in short supply on the Hotline as the biggest weekend of the Premiership season edges closer. Hibs could be in hot water for taking a light-hearted dig at Rangers’ penalty award on X on Saturday.

Hoops assistant John Kennedy declared Celtic in good shape for Sunday’s Ibrox showdown after beating Livingston 3-0. But John Davidson, Kirkintilloch, said: “I see Celtic were making the back page with their very own April Fool gag: Ready for Rangers. Never ever, let’s see what happens on Sunday at Ibrox. As the saying goes, a wise head keeps a shut mouth.”

John Bruce emailed: “Rangers stormed to the top of the league with a dominant victory over Hibs, with Philippe Clement making full use of the quality on his subs bench. Celtic stuttered to victory over a truly awful, bottom of the table Livingston side, thanks to an opening own-goal from the home side in the second half. On this evidence, Rangers can go into the Old Firm game next Sunday confident of getting the result that will take them back to the top of the league, before playing their game in hand a few days later.”

And Gordon Ferguson, Kilwinning, said: “As Sunday’s Old Firm game approaches who can’t be excited? A proper old school shootout, just what Scottish football needs. So here’s to an incident-free game… not! Let the madness unfold and may the best team win.”

Penalty to Rangers reared it's head again at the weekend and Hibs were quick to reference it on their social media channels.
