U.S. softball player Cam Schiller suspended 3 years for steroid doping at men's World Cup

American softball player Cam Schiller was banned for three years for doping with a steroid, the International Testing Agency said Wednesday.

Schiller tested positive while playing for the United States at the 2025 Men's Softball World Cup, the ITA said, and was stripped of his bronze medal from the event as part of his punishment.

Schiller's ban was reduced from four years to three because he "did not challenge the (doping violation) and agreed with the consequences," the agency said.

The Texas Rangers drafted him in 2012 and then Schiller played in the minor leagues for the Spokane Indians before transitioning to softball.

The ITA said Schiller tested positive for norandrosterone, a metabolite of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, at last year's World Cup played in Canada. He hit .450 and was selected for the all-world team.

Schiller also helped the U.S. take bronze at the previous men's World Cup in 2022 played in New Zealand.
