Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou: Bob Arum thinks potential crossover bout 'should be easy to make'

Bob Arum is adamant Tyson Fury‘s super fight with Francis Ngannou ‘should be easy to make‘ despite his uneasy relationship with Dana White.

The duo have repeatedly expressed interest in fighting each other on several occasions thus far, with Ngannou ringside for Fury’s successful defence of his WBC strap against Dillian Whyte on Saturday night.

Fury, 33, knocked out Whyte, 34, with a hellacious uppercut in the sixth round to retain his title at Wembley.

The Predator later joined the Gypsy King in the ring to talk up the possibility of a showdown during a joint interview with ESPN, with Fury saying: “It’s going to be an explosive fight when it happens.”

Ngannou added: “We’re going to find out who the Baddest M********** on the Planet is!”

However, UFC president Whyte has publicly clashed with Fury’s US based promoter Arum in the past.

But the Hall of Fame boxing promoter doesn’t think that that will get in the way of Fury and Ngannou meeting in a clash between two heavyweight titans.

Arum told USA Today Sports+: “No, he definitely won’t retire. Of course not. Are you crazy?

“I don’t know what (Ngannou’s) contract situation with the UFC is. 

“Obviously, it’d be a massive fight, and it should be easy to make since both Tyson and [Ngannou] are with ESPN.”

Ngannou, 35, is also confident of making the potential crossover bout a reality.

That’s despite the fact he will miss the rest of the year as he recovers from knee surgery.

However, with his UFC deal set to expire at the end of 2022, Ngannou would be free to sign a contract to face Fury in the boxing ring.

Speaking to BT Sport, he said: “Definitely sometime next year. 2023.

“That fight will happen!”
