Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte undercard fight cancelled leaving boxer distraught

Anthony Cacace has vented his frustration after his fight against Jonathan Romero on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s title defence against Dillian Whyte was cancelled. Cacace, 33, took to social media on Wednesday to reveal the news.

The super-featherweight - nicknamed the Apache - had been set to take on Romero, 35, at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night. But the fight has been pulled.

Taking to Twitter, Cacace wrote: “Actually can’t believe I'm writing this status. Been away from my children and home for three months only to be told that I will not be fighting on this show. What an absolute f***ing kick in the teeth. Boxings broke me many times but this time just feel shattered. F*** boxing!!”

Promoter Frank Warren had spoken on his high hopes for the British champion in the build-up to this weekend’s show. Warren said: “I genuinely believe that as soon as Anthony Cacace gathers some momentum in his career, he has got what it takes to win a world title and securing the WBO International belt will put him firmly on track.

“But he is up against a dangerous and experienced opponent in Jonathan Romero and will need to be at his very best on the night.”
