Tyson Fury has been nominated for the Best Boxer award at this year's ESPYS which will air live on July 20.

Tyson, from Morecambe, has had quite the year when it comes to his boxing career. The Gypsy King has now entered retirement after his heavyweight win against Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April earlier this year.

Now, he's among four boxers to win the crown of Best Boxer at the 2022 ESPYS awards, ESPN unveiled last night (June 28). Also nominated are Shakur Stevenson, Katie Taylor and Mikaela Mayer.

The 2022 ESPYS will air live on July 20 on ABC from Los Angeles (8pm ET/ 5pm PT). Its a night to celebrate major sporting achievements, honouring the leading performers and performances and even remembering the unforgettable moments of the past year. Fans hoping to vote for Morecambe's finest can do so via EPSYs.com until Sunday, July 17.

Top celebrities from sports and entertainment will gather to honour nominees and winners in a range of categories. The categories include Best Athlete, Men’s Sports,” “Best Athlete, Women’s Sports,” “Best Breakthrough Athlete,” “Best Record Breaking Performance,” “Best Championship Performance,” and “Best Comeback Athlete.”

Whether or not the heavyweight champion will attend the award ceremony in person is yet to be confirmed. National media reports have claimed that Tyson has been 'refused access' to the USA due to his alleged connections with Daniel Kinahan.

The dad-of-six, from Morecambe, has long been associated with Kinahan, 44, who is understood to be the leader of the Kinahan Organised Crime Group. Kinahan is a wanted man in both America and Ireland.
