Tyson Fury future: Eddie Hearn refuses to rule out signing the Gypsy King

Eddie Hearn has refused to rule out signing Tyson Fury despite apparently being ‘loyal’ to Anthony Joshua.

Fury’s future remains uncertain having reportedly completed the last fight on his £80million contract with Top Rank.

The ‘Gypsy King’ retained his WBC heavyweight title after an explosive sixth round knockout win against Dillian Whyte earlier this year.

The 33-year-old stopped his former sparring partner quicker than his fellow Brit did in their O2 Arena bout in December 2015 where AJ emerged victorious.

Fury – in his second reign as heavyweight champion of the world – needed just over 15 minutes to beat the Body Snatcher at Wembley Stadium on April 23.

And despite the lingering animosity between the pair, Hearn acknowledged that anything ‘could happen in the future’.

Speaking to GQ, the 43-year-old said: “Tyson Fury isn’t the biggest draw in boxing, AJ still is.

“But yes – he’s a huge star.

“But I am loyal to AJ, and I think Fury knew that when I was discussing signing him when he was 400lbs.

“He knew AJ would be my number one, and that would have been difficult.

“But you never know what could happen in the future.”

Hearn, 43, recently called Fury ‘a genius’ after claiming he would fight Joshua for free, should he win his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on August 20.

He told the DAZN Boxing Show: “He’s a genius Tyson Fury, because no-one ever really questions what he says.
