Tyson Fury drops WWE return hint ahead of Francis Ngannou and Oleksandyr Usyk fights

Tyson Fury has teased a potential WWE return with comments guaranteed to frustrate boxing fans.

Next weekend, the Gypsy King will face former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in an exhibition bout. The contest - set to take place in Saudi Arabia - is Ngannou’s first experience of a boxing ring and will earn Fury a reported £40million.

A lucrative payday against a novice appears to be a no-brainer but boxing fans have hit out at the 6ft 9in pugilist's decision. Talks regarding an undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk broke down earlier this year but, last month, promoter Frank Warren confirmed the heavyweight superfight will go ahead once Fury deals with Ngannou.

A highly-anticipated, all-British clash with Anthony Joshua has also been years in the making but the WBC champ is flirting with a possible WWE return. Fury wrestled in 2019 and also made an appearance at Clash at the Castle last year.

“Who’s the baddest mother****** on the planet?” Fury said. “That’s what this fight will tell you. We’re both two heavyweights in our prime. It’s two worlds colliding.”

“I’ve been doing this for 15 years, which is a long time,” said Fury. “I know it won’t last forever. And it’s true, I’ve had a few good stints in WWE. There is still a lot of opportunity there. It’s an amazing experience there. At the moment, I’m very busy with boxing. I’m still active and on top of my chosen profession, so this is where my focus will be. After that, we’ll see.”
