Tyson Fury comeback date and opponent revealed for UK fight as retirement ended
Tyson Fury has confirmed he will face Arslanbek Makhmudov in his return to the ring in April. A former two-time heavyweight world champion, Fury announced a retirement from boxing at the start of 2025 after back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk.
But he recently signalled he wanted to return and went into training for a comeback fight earlier this year. And now it has been confirmed that he will take on Makhmudov in the UK on Saturday, April 11, with the venue to be announced.
The 37-year-old is now planning a big 2026, as he not only aims to have three fights but also make a new charge to the biggest names possible in the heavyweight division. The showdown against Makhmudov will be streamed on Netflix, which will be the first time the streaming giant has broadcast a live event in the United Kingdom.
Reacting to the news, Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh said: "We are happy that Tyson decided to come out of retirement for what should be an exciting heavyweight clash against Makhmudov."
Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Sports at Netflix, added: “I have long admired Tyson Fury as one of the most resilient and captivating boxers of his generation.
“His career has been defined by beating the odds, and there is an undeniable electricity whenever he fights. We are incredibly excited to see him come out of retirement for this massive homecoming, and we love giving our members a front-row seat to the next chapter of his legacy.”
While Fury said: “Excited to be back. Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!”
Taking to Instagram, Fury wrote: “Well it’s official im back doing what i (heart emoji) to do. Iv brought the biggest network along with me @netflix @netflixuk
