Tyrrell: Limerick's final preparation different to Kilkenny's

Jackie Tyrrell says Limerick's All-Ireland final preparation will be slightly different than that of their opponents Kilkenny due to the difference in intensities of both semi-finals.

Kilkenny earned their place in the final by easing to victory against Clare by 12 points while John Kiely's side were made to work for their victory by a gallant Galway outfit.

Speaking on this week's RTÉ GAA podcast, the former Kilkenny hurler said there is important work for Limerick to do before the All-Ireland final clash with Kilkenny in two weeks time.

"It's a tricky one two weeks, cause next week you are not going to have any huge intense stuff, its just going to be sharpening and focusing the mind," he said.

"This is the week that you are going to do anything, so you have to assess.

"It's a little different because with all due respect, Kilkenny didn't have the toughest of games on Saturday, they have an extra day recovery".

"Limerick, that was some battle yesterday, the physicality and the hits. I watched lads coming off that pitch yesterday and they were exhausted, they were on their knees".

John Kiely was able to call on fit-again Cian Lynch and Peter Casey from the bench coming down the stretch against the Tribesmen, but the the four-time All-Star says the Limerick manager has work to do to get the pair back up to match sharpness.

"Looking at Cian Lynch and Peter Casey yesterday, it's very hard to come into that, I know David Reidy did but he is used to that mentality of coming in and hitting the ground running. I won’t say they struggled, but they didn’t really have an influence on it.
