Tyrone set to have Conor McKenna available against Derry

Conor McKenna will be available to play for Tyrone against Derry this weekend, RTÉ Sport understands.

McKenna was last night cleared to play against Rory Gallagher's side in Sunday’s Ulster quarter-final at Healy Park.

The Tyrone forward was sent off by referee Joe McQuillan for 'contributing to a melee’ in their win over Fermanagh.

But RTÉ Sport has been informed that his red card was rescinded by the Central Hearings Committee last night.

Tyrone had immediately requested a hearing after his dismissal against Fermanagh.

The case was due to be heard late last week but was deferred.

Tyrone always maintained that McKenna became involved in the melee because he was protecting team-mate Conn Kilpatrick and then himself.

McKenna had a huge impact when he came on for Tyrone in that Fermanagh game.

He was a key focal point for the attack, scored two points and almost broke through for a goal.

His availability for Sunday’s game is a crucial development as Tyrone now go head to head with a very well drilled and organised Derry outfit.
