Two women treated by paramedics after crash on busy city centre road

Two women have been treated by paramedics following a crash on one of Manchester's busiest roads. Emergency services were called out to Great Ancoats Street, at the junction of Store Street and Old Mill Street, after 7.30am this morning (February 24).

Police, firefighters and paramedics were all sent out to the scene. Fire crew members and paramedics checked over two women following the crash, which involved two vehicles.

They were treated at the scene. Images from Great Ancoats Street show a Ford Fiesta with a severely damaged front bumper following the crash.

Drivers faced congestion on the northbound side of Great Ancoats Street, heading towards Victoria, throughout rush hour. The section of Manchester's inner ring road was cleared by 9.45am.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Just after 7.30am this morning (Friday, February 24), one fire engine from Manchester central fire station was called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Old Mill Street, Manchester. The crew arrived quickly at scene.

"Firefighters worked with colleagues from North West Ambulance Service to treat two woman at the scene. Firefighters were in attendance for around 40 minutes.”
