Two-weight undisputed champion: Taylor's latest target

Katie Taylor will bid to become just the third two-weight undisputed champion when facing super lightweight belt holder Chantelle Cameron in the 3Arena.

Having become lightweight champion within seven fights, unified champion within eight - which is two belts or more - and undisputed in her 14th bout, Taylor is now looking to dominate a second weight division.

In the modern era just two fighters have become undisputed in two divisions.

Evander Holyfield completed the feat in cruiserweight and heavyweight in the three-belt era.

Claressa Shields became the first boxer – male or female – to be undisputed champion in two weight divisions with four belts when she beat Canadian Dicaire in 2021 at middleweight, having previously dominated at welterweight.

Taylor has the chance to join her this weekend as the challenger to Cameron in the 3 Arena. Taylor's lightweight belts are not on the line.

After besting Delfine Persoon to win all four of the lightweight belts Taylor would go on to claim a WBA super-lightweight belt, defeating Christina Linardatou, but opted to focus on her own division.

But now Taylor has the chance to take all four super-lightweight belts after Cameron accepted the gauntlet laid down by Taylor in the wake of her Amanda Serrano rematch falling through.

Taylor's second to last fight was that historic win over Amanda Serrano in Madison Squad Garden last year, which brought the 36-year-old to a new level of worldwide stardom in the sport.

The next step was set to be a rematch in Croke Park against Serrano. It was due to break all records for a female fight, until injury scuppered it.
