Two old foes could do Manchester United massive favour with Donny van de Beek move

The escape route looks to have finally presented itself for Donny van de Beek.

It has been a frustrating 18-months at Manchester United for Van de Beek as he has hardly been given a chance despite arriving with such pedigree and promise. He has somehow amassed 50 appearances but it is difficult to remember much of them as the majority have been late cameos off the bench or rare starts in cup competitions.

His lack of opportunities has been baffling, especially as United don't exactly have a brilliant midfield performing on all cylinders which is impossible to break into. That would make sense at least. But no, the club's lack of technical ability in the middle of the park has been a constant problem for a number of years now but yet Van de Beek wasn't even given a try - not even to see if something different would work.

But now Van de Beek will finally get the chance to prove the club wrong.

The Manchester Evening News understands that the Dutchman will almost certainly leave on loan before Monday's deadline, with three clubs having provisionally agreed a loan move with United. All that's left for Van de Beek is to decide where he wants to go.

It's understood that Crystal Palace are one of the clubs to have made their interest concrete and speculation on Saturday suggests Everton are also in the race.

The Toffees are closing in on naming Frank Lampard as their next manager following the sacking of Rafa Benitez and it is said he wants Van de Beek as his first signing.

That leaves two of United's biggest foes from their playing days, alongside Palace boss Patrick Viera, who could be about to do the club a massive favour.
