Two men killed and girl in hospital after horror crash on M62

Two men have died and a teenage girl remains in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on the M62 yesterday morning (April 6). An investigation has been launched after a HGV collided with a car, before the car then hit another HGV.

The crash happened around 9.50am eastbound between junction 36 (Goole) and junction 37 (Howden), East Yorks. The driver of the car, a 54-year-old man, and a driver of one of the HGVs, a 53-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 15-year-old girl had to be taken to hospital after the crash and she remains there in a serious condition, police say. The motorway had to be fully closed after the crash, with emergency services in attendance until around 6pm.

HullLive report that two heroic men rushed into the crash to rescue the girl from the lorry as it was beginning to be engulfed in flames. Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have captured dashcam footage to get in touch.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: "An investigation is ongoing after two people died in a collision on the M62 yesterday, Wednesday 6 April. The collision took place at approximately 9:50am on the eastbound carriageway between junction 36 (Goole) and junction 37 (Howden) when a HGV collided with a car, the car then subsequently collided with another HGV.

"A 54-year-old man who was driving the car and a 53-year-old man driving one of the HGVs at the time of the collision, were sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment for injuries where she remains in a serious condition.
