Two men charged in connection with town centre fight that led to man being hospitalised

Two men have been charged in connection with an incident at the weekend which led to the victim going to hospital with serious head injuries. Police were called to Silver Street on June 18 following reports of a fight that left one man hospitalised.

Liam Rylance, of Brierley Street in Bury, and Kane Mawdsley, of Clyde Terrace in Radcliffe have been charged with assault. Rylance, 20, and Mawdsley, 21, are due to appear in Manchester Crown Court on July 25.

Greater Manchester Police said in a social media post: “These charges relate to an incident on Silver Street in Bury Town Centre at around 4am on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

“A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.” The last update from Greater Manchester Police stated that the victim was in critical condition in hospital on June 18.

It was alleged that the man was punched and kicked when on the ground unconscious.
