Two Manchester United youngsters clash as Alvaro Fernandez sends message to Erik ten Hag

Manchester United were thrashed 7-0 by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, with the Reds suffering their worst defeat since Erik ten Hag was appointed manager in the summer.

The Reds conceded six times in the second half as Jurgen Klopp's side ran riot at Anfield. The home side had three players score two goals in the game, with Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez all grabbing braces. Substitute Roberto Firmino scored the seventh and final goal of the clash in the 88th minute after coming off the bench in the second half.

Ten Hag's side have now gone eight games without a win at Liverpool, where they have only won three times since December 2007. It was also the first time the club have lost 7-0 since Boxing Day in 1931, with their opponents recording their biggest-ever competitive win against the Reds.

While it was an incredibly disappointing afternoon at Anfield on Sunday, several of United's loanees enjoyed more productive weekends with their loan side.
