Two M4 crashes caused delays of 30 minutes as rush hour queues stretch miles

There were long delays on the M4 around Newport after two rush hour crashes. There have been miles of tailbacks both east and westbound after the incidents near junction 24.

Firstly there was a crash eastbound J24 A449 (Coldra) to J23A A4810 (Magor Services) at around 7:30am. All lanes re-opened quickly but there were long delays in the area with queues of around 30 minutes for some.

While residual traffic was clearing from tis incident, at around 8:15am there was a second crash on the stretch - however this incident was westbound. One lane is blocked due to the incident from J24 A449 (Coldra) to J25 B4596 Caerleon Road (Caerleon). Travel time is 20 minutes.

There is a yellow weather warning in place which is making poor driving conditions.
