Two key Manchester United decisions Erik ten Hag can replicate to halt Man City's treble bid

Manchester United are one of only two teams who stand between Manchester City and a historic treble.

Sir Alex Ferguson's 1999 side are currently the only English team to have completed such a feat and Erik ten Hag has already made clear his desire to keep it this way. Speaking after progressing to the FA Cup final, the United boss said: "I understand, of course, the feelings from the Man United fans about it.

"We will do everything to give them that, to give them the second trophy, everything what I have, everything what the team have, everything the staff have, we will give everything to get that done. We can do it, because we proved it, but it’s not an easy job. It’s a great team, but we’ll also have a great team and great players and we can beat them."

While October's 6-3 drumming is best forgotten, Ten Hag can take positivity from the 2-1 win at Old Trafford earlier this year. During this game, the Dutchman made two key decisions which influenced the outcome and could help the Reds spoil Pep Guardiola's treble hopes.

Marcus Rashford is currently on the sidelines after nursing both an injury and, more recently, illness. While he may have missed the last two matches, the Englishman should be fit for the FA Cup final at Wembley and United certainly need him.

Without the 25-year-old, Ten Hag's attack has looked blunt with Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho and Antony failing to offer much offensively against Bournemouth last time out. But, with Rashford moved into the centre, the Reds can utilise an in-game switch which worked to devastating effect in January against City and would give the Blues' defence something to think about.
