Two involved in row not club members, say Naomh Fionnbarra

One of the clubs involved in a minor hurling league match which was abandoned in Dublin on Saturday after an alleged assault on a match official, have released a statement following a meeting of the club's executive on Monday evening.

An umpire was also treated for injuries by medics at the match venue, Sean Moore Park, and Gardaí were called to the scene.

The referee abandoned the match early in the second half.

Naomh Fionnbarra have released a statement to say that the two adults involved in a fracas following the abandonment of the game are not, nor ever have been members of the club.

The statement goes on to say that as the issues are now under investigation, no further statement or comments will be made.

On Monday, Naomh Fionnbarra said they are awaiting the referee's report, but challenged the "one-sided" media reports that have arisen from the match.
