Two class midfielders, star striker and next Jack O'Connell shine for Sheffield United Under 23s
Sheffield United's youngsters continued their good form at home to Peterborough this afternoon. Michael Collins' under 23 side ran out 4-2 winners courtesy of a quickfire brace from Hassan Ayari and a double from hotshot striker Will Lankshear to remain top of the Professional Development League North.
It was a sixth win in seven in the league and with just four games remaining the Blades are on course to retain their title. After a goalless first half, two goals in the space of two minutes had the home side in control.
Tunisian under 20 midfielder Ayari fired home the opener on 53 minutes after reacting to a loose ball, before a superb piece of skill two minutes later doubled the lead. Good work by Sydie Peck found Ayari inside the area and he showed great feet and a great brain to produce a drag back and turn, beating two men in the process, before calmly slotting home.
The visitors pulled a goal back midway through the second half from the penalty spot after Jake Eastwood was penalised for a foul on Gabriel Overton. Lewis Darlington sent the Blades stopper the wrong way to narrow the deficit. However, substitute Will Lankshear then came off the bench and bagged a brace before a consolation late on completed the scoring.
Former Arsenal striker Lankshear is in sensational form right now. Still only 16, he took his tally to 19 in 23 appearances and he looks a real talent, slotting home the first from Peck's pull-back before picking out the top corner from the edge of the box for his second.
Seventeen-year-old Peck, who has also joined from the Gunners, had a hand in three of the four goals and ran the show from midfield. He now has nine assists for the season and is highly regarded by the coaching staff, making the
