TV star quits role as they issue emotional statement

GB News presenter Alex Armstrong has made an emotional announcement on social media about taking a step back from his TV role. Known for his political reporting, Armstrong recently took on a main presenting role on the channel for several weeks.

He expressed gratitude on social media with a touching message and a collage of moments from his time on air, stating: "Thank you all for your amazing support while I ran a full stint of presenting on @GBNEWS over the last couple of weeks."

Reflecting on his recent experience in front of the camera, Alex said it was a "huge learning curve for me," and showed appreciation to his audience by saying: "So thank you for sticking around, and I hope you enjoyed watching!", reports the Express.

His departure has already prompted a flood of supportive messages from viewers and colleagues alike.

GB News colleague Paula London remarked: "You should be so proud! " and a viewer commented: "I thought you did very well and you have a bright future."

Another assured Alex: " You did really well I’m sure you’ll go from strength to strength." A viewer agreed: "I thought you were very good and appeared to have been doing it for years."

A fifth echoed: "Thank you Alex for sterling performances ….. Good to know there’s so much talent waiting in the wings on GBNEWS."

It comes after latest exit from the news channel after a string of prominent GB News presenters stepped away from their roles last year.

The unexpected and shock shake-ups saw Isabel Webster and Mark Dolan getting sacked, while Jacob Rees-Mogg's hours were cut from four days a week to just two.
