Tuesday's meeting at the Curragh gets the go ahead

Racing at The Curragh goes ahead as planned today, following an early morning course inspection.

With Sunday's meeting having already fallen victim to the weather there was concern that today's could also go.

However overnight rain was not as heavy as feared and a 7am inspection found the track suitable for racing. The going is heavy.

Clerk of the course Brendan Sheridan said: "We had a dry night at The Curragh and following our inspection this morning the track is fit for racing today. The ground is heavy.

"We've a mainly dry day up until around 4pm when the rain is due to start again. There is some big amounts forecast so we will have to monitor the situation in the coming days regarding Sunday's fixture here.

"The latest forecast from Met Éireann this morning said that we could get anything up to 30-40mm before Sunday. We'll keep an eye on things and give further updates throughout the week. "
