TTM coach reveals reason for wearing military combat uniform in victory over SuperSport

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC head coach Lucky Nelukau has explained his reason for donning military attire in their Nedbank Cup quarter-final encounter against SuperSport United on Friday at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

Goals from Jesse Donn and Ghampani Lungu gave Matsatsantsa a comfortable lead, but the hosts hit back through Tumi Ngwepe and Naeem Amoojee to take the match into extra-time.

Nelukau's charges went on to complete the comeback as Tumelo Makha sealed the 3-2 victory for the GladAfrica Championship outfit in front of roaring home fans, who returned to the stands for the first time this season after Premier Soccer League boss Irvin Khoza's announcement last month.

While the victory was stunning in itself, Nelukau stole the show as he was fully kitted, from head to toe, in military attire, coaching his players from the dugout.

However, there is a heartfelt reason for his choices he explained.

"We are going to use that uniform every day because we are honouring our late brother Arnold Mudau," Nelukau said as quoted by KickOff.

"He is my brother; my friend and he was my everything. He was also close to the team.

"He was part of the formation of this team. He passed away recently due to a car accident.

"The ancestors are saying we must wear it every time we play. The ancestors are saying we must honour him.

"Everywhere I go I know he is with me. He was an honest man and liked to bring peace to every conflict."

TTM will tackle Marumo Gallants in the semi-final, with the venues and dates set to be confirmed in due course.
