Tsunami hits Japan and Russian with warnings for Hawaii and US coast after 8.8 magnitude earthquake - live

Russia and Japan have been hit by a tsunami this morning following an 8.7 magnitude earthquake, as warnings have been issued for countries across the world.

Tsunamis struck parts of Russia’s Kuril Islands and Japan’s large northern island of Hokkaido.

Warnings have also been issued for other parts of Japan's east coast - and the entirety of the west coast of America, and people on the island state of Hawaii have been evacuated from homes in coastal areas amid fears of tsunamis there.

There is concern in the US for several other areas, including San Francisco.
