Trump edges past Wakelin at Turkish Masters

World number three Judd Trump was made to work hard to book his place in the last-32 of the Nirvana Turkish Masters after a 5-3 win over Chris Wakelin.

The former world champion came through a tense eighth frame following a number of high-quality safety shots to get the better of his opponent, who hit a 113 break during the match.

After a 5-0 win over Michael Georgiou in round one, Trump admitted to being "tired and sleepy" after a quick turnaround from last week's Welsh Open but will have to wake himself up for Thursday's battle against Liang Wenbo.

Later in the afternoon session, Ukraine's Iulian Boiko lost 5-1 to Andrew Higginson while Ali Carter beat Jamie Jones by the same score and Jak Jones edged out Mark Allen following a decider.

John Higgins continued his impressive campaign with a 5-0 victory over Michael Holt and Si Jiahui was in similarly dismissive form to knock out Tom Ford following a 5-1 win.
