Troost-Ekong set to join Saudi’s Al-Kholood
Super Eagles’ Captain, William Troost-Ekong, is set to join Saudi club Al-Kholood after they reached an agreement with his club PAOK, reports kingfut.com.
The news was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, as Ekong is now set to be Al-Kholood’s eighth summer signing after deals with the likes of Al Ahly’s Aliou Dieng, and Slovak defender, Norbert Gyömbér.
Having been promoted to the Saudi Pro League this season, Al-Kholood hopes Ekong’s experience will help them stay in the top flight, having previously played all over Europe.
Ekong had only joined Greek club PAOK in the summer of 2023 from Watford and already played and scored for them this season during the qualifications of the UEFA Champions League.
Born in Haarlem, The Netherlands, Troost-Ekong has plenty of experience, playing for Watford, Salentrina, Udinese, Bursaspor, KAA Gent, Groningen, as well as the youth academies of Fulham, and Spurs before his move to Greece.
On the international level, the 30-year-old captained Nigeria to the silver medal during the most recent 2023 AFCON, having also claimed the bronze medal during the 2019 edition. Overall, he has 71 caps and was part of the squad that played in the 2018 World Cup.
