Triple H details nearly dying from heart failure & officially retires

Triple H has officially retired from wrestling after going into heart failure last year and nearly dying.

WWE confirmed in September of last year that Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has suffered a “cardiac event” and had to undergo surgery.

The issue was brought on by a genetic condition, and Triple H has now confirmed that his days as a wrestler, as a result, are over.

Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, the former WWE Champion explained that he nearly died from the whole ordeal last year.

Triple H went in for tests after beginning to cough up blood, where he found out he was in heart failure.

HHH said that a good ejection fraction of the human heart (measurement of the percentage of blood leaving the heart in contractions) is around 60%. At the time he was in hospital, he was at 22%.

‘The Game’ explained that his level dropped to 11% the morning after being admitted to hospital, admitting that he was close to dying.

“I was in heart failure…bad. I was nosediving and at the one-yard-line of where you don’t want to be for your family and your future,” he said.

Triple H got emotional when speaking about the impact of his health scare on his family, explaining that at times before his surgeries, he questioned if he’d make it out alive.

“There are moments when they are putting you out for stuff and you think ‘Is this it?’ Do you wake up…that’s tough to swallow. It makes you think differently about life. It doesn’t make you any less driven for the things you want to do, but it certainly makes you appreciate the things you have.”

With regards to what the future holds for him in the ring, Vince McMahon’s son-in-law confirmed that he’s now retired and will never be wrestling again.

“As far as in-ring, I’m done. I would never wrestle
