Tributes to beloved young woman killed after being hit by ambulance

Tributes have been paid to a "cherished" woman who was killed after being struck by an ambulance in Cheshire. Carrie Loughlin, 35, was in the village of Mollington when the collision happened.

Carrie was a pedestrian on Parkgate Road when the ambulance, which was not believed to have been responding to an emergency at the time, hit her just after 10pm on Wednesday, March 16. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family have expressed their heartbreak at her tragic death. In a statement, her family said: “We are heartbroken at the sudden passing of our beautiful Carrie.

"She was always so full of light and the love and laughter she brought us will never be forgotten. Carrie was a beloved daughter, sister and granddaughter and will be sorely missed by the many who loved and cherished her.”

At the time, a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "At around 10pm on Wednesday 16 March, an ambulance was involved in a road traffic collision on Parkgate Road, Mollington, while transporting a non-emergency patient to hospital under normal driving conditions.

"Sadly, a pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. We are helping Cheshire Police with their enquiries and providing welfare support to colleagues involved in the incident."
