Trial of ex-United star Ryan Giggs continues following love poems and Sir Alex Ferguson evidence - latest updates
The trial of ex-United star Ryan Giggs continues today.
Former Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson told jurors Mr Giggs has a 'fantastic temperament' as he gave evidence in defence of his former player on Friday.
Mr Giggs, 48, is on trial accused of headbutting his former girlfriend Kate Greville, elbowing her sister Emma Greville and of behaving in a controlling and coercive manner towards his ex between August 2017 and November 2020. He denies all charges.
Sir Alex, 80, was called by Mr Giggs' legal team as a character witness on the tenth day of the trial at Manchester Crown Court. He said Mr Giggs had a 'fantastic temperament', adding: "Everyone looked at Ryan as the number one."
A large number of messages, poems and love letters written by Mr Giggs and Ms Greville were read to the court last week.
One message sent by Mr Giggs, jurors heard, read: “I adore you, I am infatuated by you, I appreciate you, I can’t live without you, I can’t stop thinking about you when we’re apart… you’re my sunshine, my wish, my soulmate, my strength, my one and only, #nottheresidents, you’re my precious, you and I.”
