Trevor Sinclair takes potshot at Celtic exit of Brendan Rodgers as superfan professes love for Ange

As a diehard Celtic fan and fully signed-up member of the Ange Postecoglou fan club, Trevor Sinclair would love to see the Aussie make a permanent home at Parkhead.

But the former West Ham, Man City and England star knows – and fears – there are a host of clubs down south who have also been swept up by the Celts gaffer’s swashbuckling style. It might only be a matter of time before one of the big boys come calling but Sinclair is praying Postecoglou sticks around a lot longer and when the time comes he could leave a legend.

The Hoops boss has already bagged a Premiership and League Cup double in his first season, pocketed the first trophy of the term this year and has a commanding lead in the league and a Scottish Cup semi-final on the horizon. Postecoglou is already well under way to securing his place in the history books and Sinclair would love the good times to continue to roll.

The 12-times capped Three Lions midfielder said: “Could he leave a legend? Absolutely – as long as it’s not in the middle of the season, I’ll say no more on that!

“Listen, he’s been brilliant for the football club. He’s a very humble man, I think he’s quite shy actually. You see his speech after winning the first championship – we never stop – it’s almost like a motto for the football club now. I absolutely love the club from top to bottom and it’s great to have someone like him in charge.

“The style of football will attract a lot of Premier League interest. But then there’s the way he’s so competent in front of the media, he sticks up for himself and the football club, speaks really well.
