Trent Alexander-Arnold's pass to Mo Salah vs Benfica was ridiculously good

Trent Alexander-Arnold is an obscenely good footballer.

At the age of just 23, Liverpool‘s generational defender is already in the conversation to be labelled the greatest right-back in Premier League history.

Alexander-Arnold regularly runs games from his position out wide and the number of assists he produces is worthy of a world-class playmaker.

During Liverpool’s 3-1 win away at Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, the mercurial right-back was up to his usual tricks.

He even came agonisingly close to producing one of the finest assists of the 2021/22 season to date on Tuesday evening.

On the cusp of half-time in Lisbon, Alexander-Arnold picked up the ball by the touchline deep in his own half, spotted Mohamed Salah on the run and played the most outrageous lofted pass right into the Egyptian’s path.

Salah should have then done the pass justice by scoring to make it 3-0 to Liverpool, but he was thwarted by a fine save from Odysseas Vlachodimos in the Benfica goal.

Trent’s passing ability… Liquid gold.
