Motorists and rail passengers in Lancashire are facing travel chaos this afternoon after a car smashed into a railway bridge.
Emergency services were called to Prescot Road in Aughton in the early hours of this morning (December 28). Dramatic pictures from the scene show debris scattered 40ft below on the railway track after the red Seat Ibiza crashed into the bridge at around 2.15am.
The road remains closed in both directions as police and engineers work to make the scene safe. No injuries have been reported, according to LancsLive.
