Transformation of town centre continues with major work complete

The transformation of Stretford town centre is progressing well following the completion of public realm improvements. Trafford council and its property company partner Bruntwood are continuing work at the Kingsway and Barton Road junction to make it safer and greener for cyclists, motorists and pedestrians.

One section of the Kingsway footpath has been completed and provides new footpaths, seating, planting, trees, green spaces and sustainable drainage. Work on the other side of Kingsway has just started and will provide further improvements to footpaths and the formation of new pedestrian crossing points and cycle lanes.

Coun Liz Patel, Trafford council’s executive member for economy, and regeneration, said: “Stretford town centre is being transformed into a great place for residents, shoppers, and businesses. These new road designs for Kingsway look fabulous and will make the road experience safer for pedestrians and cyclists and will complement the redevelopment work currently taking place at Stretford Mall.
