Transfer insider details new "worrying aspect" for Liverpool in bid to sign Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool may still have some concerns that they could miss out on Fulham teenager Fabio Carvalho again in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Reds were heavily linked with Carvalho last month, but they did not manage to finalise a deal in time with his current employers.

It appeared for most of the month that Liverpool would hold off on trying to sign Carvalho until the summer, but they stepped up their interest in the 19-year-old in the final hours of the January transfer window.

The Premier League outfit reportedly agreed a €10m fee with Fulham for the attacking midfielder, but they did not complete the necessary paperwork before the deadline, leaving Carvalho to see out the rest of the season at Craven Cottage.

Jones believes that Liverpool are still in the box seat in terms of landing Carvalho at the end of the season.

However, with the youngster out of contract in June, he could come to an agreement with a European club before then, and Jones thinks that Liverpool may fear being pipped to his signature by a rival club.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “I think the worrying aspect from Liverpool’s point of view is that his representative, which is his brother, has been touting him around a lot over the last six months or so.

“And, while this agreement got a long way down the road, and is definitely still the place he’s most likely to end up, because there’s that possibility he could sign to a European team between now and then, I think Liverpool will be slightly cautious about what they’re up to at the moment.”
