Transfer gossip: Man Utd target another CB in Maguire plan as Newcastle rejected by £97.5m star

Manchester United have made progress with their plans on Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford. Newcastle continue their search for a striker.

Newcastle have also been ruled out – ‘even though it is unclear if they have any interest’ – on a basis which is not made particularly clear. Probably doesn’t fancy being successfully repurposed into a box-to-box midfielder.

Darwin Nunez seems to be the main target, ‘having been scouted heavily’. But other options for the position include Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Patrik Schick.
