Transfer Gossip: Man Utd met by Tottenham as Ten Hag eyes Europa League star; Man City legend wanted at Burnley
Manchester United are eyeing up a Europa League star with Tottenham also keen, while Burnley want a Manchester City legend – both in all the latest Transfer Gossip.
Manchester United will have Tottenham as transfer rivals if they decide to go after Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka this summer, according to one journalist.
The Red Devils are plotting a squad overhaul under incoming new manager Erik ten Hag. Additions in midfield and up front have become priorities but so too have defensive signings.
Indeed, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly could both leave Old Trafford before next season.
Reports have claimed that United are subsequently eyeing up Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar. Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber is also a supposed target having impressed under Ten Hag at Ajax.
According to transfer journalist Fabrice Hawkins, though, Ten Hag is also eyeing up Frankfurt’s Frenchman Ndicka.
The 22-year-old played all but two of the German club’s Europa League games this season as they clinched the title against Rangers on Wednesday.
While he therefore proved himself in Europe, he has also made his name in the Bundesliga this term.
Ndicka also missed only two league games, leading the club to a mid-table finish.
However, Hawkins adds that, as well as Man Utd, Tottenham are also monitoring the France Under-21 international. Monaco are a third club watching him closely amid doubt over Benoit Badiashile’s future at the Ligue 1 club.
Still, Ndicka could yet stay and play Champions League football with Frankfurt next season following their Europa League triumph.
He has only one year left on his current deal and so Frankfurt will want to avoid losing their star defender for free next summer, given his potential re-sale value.
