Tragedy as second teenager dies in horrific crash that saw Audi plough into trees

A second teenager has died in a horrific crash that saw an Audi plough into trees in Lancashire. Police and paramedics were scrambled to the collision on Chain Caul Way, Preston, on Tuesday night (September 10).

Emergency services attended the scene shortly before 11pm to reports that an Audi A3 sport, travelling towards Lea, had left the carriageway and collided with trees.

After the incident, three teenage boys, aged 16, 17 and 18, were rushed to hospital from the scene. On Wednesday (September 11), Lancashire Police announced the 16-year-old, a backseat passenger, died as a result of his injuries.

In a new update, Lancashire Constabulary said the driver, an 18-year-old man, died on Thursday morning (September 12) in hospital.

A 17-year-old boy, who was a front seat passenger, suffered serious injuries and remains in a 'stable condition' in hospital. They are all from Preston.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information, CCTV or any witnesses are being urged to contact Lancashire Police immediately.

Sgt Paul McCurrie, of Lancashire Police’s Road Policing Unit, said: "This was a collision with tragic circumstances. Two young people have died, and I wish to extend my sympathy to their families, loved ones and friends.

"We are investigating how the collision happened, and we continue to ask for anyone who witnessed it to contact us. Also, if anyone was driving in the Chain Caul Lane area around the time of the collision and has dash cam footage, or they have CCTV footage from the area, please get in touch."
