Tragedy as man, 28, is killed after being hit by two cars in horrific crash

A 28-year-old man was tragically killed in a horror crash in which he was hit by two cars near Manchester city centre. Emergency services raced to the fatal collision on Water Street at around 2.30am on July 5.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. Detectives believe that two vehicles were travelling on the A57 when at the same time, the pedestrian was crossing the eastbound carriageway.

Enquiries suggest the first vehicle hit the pedestrian and fled the scene. The second vehicle then also hit the victim who was lying injured in the road.

The road was closed off after the collision, as a cordon was also put on place on Regent Road and a number of surrounding streets close to the Mancunian Way.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area as a forensic tent was erected at the scene. Evidence markers were placed on the road was investigations were carried out.

The force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, including anyone with footage, including dashcam and mobile phone footage from the area.
