Trafford man found dead on railway line in North Wales named as inquest opens into his death

A man from Trafford who was found dead on a railway line in North Wales has been named as Keith Ford. The body of Mr Ford, of Valley Road, Urmston, was discovered near to Prestatyn Golf Club on Thursday, July 13.

An inquest into his death opened in Ruthin today (Monday). Assistant coroner David Lewis said the 40-year-old self-employed gardener, who was hit by a train, died of chest injuries.

The inquest was adjourned until a future date yet to be fixed. Following the incident, a 47-year-old man, from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was later released on bail pending further investigations. At the time, police said they believed both men knew each other.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called to the section of railway line at 5.10pm on July 13 after reports of a casualty on the tracks. Mr Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, near to the Haven Presthaven Holiday Park.

At the time, BTP said the tragedy was being treated as an 'isolated incident'. Detectives appealed for witnesses staying at the nearby Greenacres Caravan Park who may have heard raised voices to get in touch.
