Tottenham vs Southampton: Mohammed Salisu's disastrous own-goal in Premier League clash
Mohammed Salisu produced a contender for the worst own-goal of the season in Southampton’s Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.
Southampton took a shock lead against Antonio Conte’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
James Ward-Prowse volleyed home in the 12th minute to send the away supporters into raptures.
But it ended up being a tough afternoon for Southampton as Tottenham asserted their dominance.
The home side led at half-time thanks to goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Eric Dier.
Salisu then scored a comical own-goal to make it 3-1 to Tottenham in the 61st minute.
The Southampton defender looked like he would easily deal with Emerson Royal’s cut-back.
But Salisu got his feet muddled up and ended up just tapping the ball into the net.
