Tottenham vs Arsenal: Rob Holding sent off in nightmare first half for Mikel Arteta's side
Arsenal went into their Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening knowing a win would secure them a return to the Champions League.
A loss, though, would mean Spurs close the gap to just one-point with two games remaining.
There was so much riding on the game for the Gunners and they started well. They were the better team during the opening 15 minutes.
But things fell apart – and rapidly – for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Spurs were given a penalty when Cedric floored Son Heung-min inside the box. Harry Kane stepped up and made no mistake from the spot.
Things then went from bad to worse after Rob Holding was sent off.
Holding was given a yellow card in the 26th minute after dragging Son down.
He then floored Son with a reckless shoulder charge to the head seven minutes later and was given his second yellow card.
It was a challenge he did not need to make, especially when he was on a yellow card.
