Tottenham: 'Utterly bizarre' Hotspur Way link emerges with 76-cap assassin
It’s extremely unlikely that Tottenham sign ex-Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with a shock move for the three-time Premier League winner, who’s currently a free agent following his release from boyhood club Boca Juniors last summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via The Sun), the 38-year-old is set to visit Conte and discuss a potential return to the Premier League and reunite with the Italian, who managed him at Juventus in 2013-2014.
Tevez, who’s scored 237 goals in his club career, hasn’t officially retired from professional football, but he hasn’t played since he left Boca at the end of last season.
The report says that Tevez will arrive at Spurs’ Hotspur Way training base this week ahead of their home game with Brighton this weekend where he will meet with Conte’s coaching staff.
However, having not kicked a ball in first-team football for more than 12 months, Jones would be stunned to see the 76-cap Argentina international join up with Conte’s side.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “It would be utterly bizarre. He’s 38 and he hasn’t been playing football this season.
“He is the complete opposite profile of player they’ve been actively looking for in terms of a new forward option. If Carlos Tevez signs for Tottenham, I would be absolutely astounded, I just don’t see it happening.”

With Harry Kane still the only recognised striker at the club, Spurs will surely be hoping to sign an understudy this summer.
However, as Jones alluded to, a 38-year-old Tevez, who hasn’t kicked a ball in a major European league since 2015, isn’t likely to be the answer.
