Tottenham: 'Reasonable chance' £27.5m star makes Hotspur Way exit

There’s a “reasonable chance” that Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon re-signs for Real Madrid this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Reguilon joined from the Spanish giants in the summer of 2020, but a buyback clause could see him return to the Bernabeu in the upcoming window.

When Reguilon swapped La Liga for the Premier League along with Gareth Bale just under two years ago, Madrid included a buyback clause of £27.5m, which can see him re-signed before the end of the 2022 summer transfer window.

According to Football.London, the buyback clause would see Spurs profit around £15m for Reguilon’s services, although the left-sided player must agree before any potential deal takes place.

Reguilon has made 67 appearances across all competitions since his arrival, but the 25-year-old has lost his way this season and has only started nine of the last 21 Premier League games following an intense battle with Ryan Sessegnon to be the club’s number one left wing-back.

Madrid’s need for a left-back will increase this summer, with the legendary Marcelo set to leave the club after 15 years following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

As a result, Jones reckons that Reguilon returning to the Spanish capital is a move that could leave everyone happy.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s done ok, but he hasn’t set the world alight. It might suit all parties for him to return to Real Madrid and for him to settle in back there. I think there’s a reasonable chance that it happens.”
