Tottenham: 'Real chance' £25m star will now leave Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur could allow Lucas Moura to seal his Hotspur Way departure in January after blocking loan moves late in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The likes of Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon and Tanguy Ndombele were allowed to complete temporary switches away from north London ahead of last week’s deadline, but Moura has stayed put.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham rejected deadline day loan offers submitted by Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Aston Villa for Moura.

The report suggests the 35-cap Brazil international has now set his sights on running down his contract and leaving on a free transfer.

Moura has entered the final 12 months of his £80,000-per-week deal, but there is an option to extend the agreement by another year.

Respected journalist Jorge Nicola has revealed that the winger’s agent, Junior Pedroso, has scheduled a meeting with the Spurs hierarchy, where a departure for Brazil will be discussed amid interest from Sao Paulo.

Moura has been on the sidelines in recent weeks, but head coach Antonio Conte has claimed that he is nearing a return to action after an inflammation in his tendon.

O’Rourke believes there is a distinct possibility that Moura will leave Tottenham in January, when it will potentially be their final chance to cash-in before his contract expires.

The journalist is aware that the north Londoners were unwilling to allow him to join Newcastle or Villa during the final hours of the summer transfer window.
